Summary
Product Title: Brother P-Touch QL-500 Label Printer
Manufacturer: Brother
Lowest Price: $71.56
Power Score: 4.3 | 15 Reviews
Strengths: Easy to change rolls. Fast!! Easy setup. Easy to use software.
Weakness: Doesn't work through D-Link print server. Others have also written it does not work via print server. Could use better instructions.
If you need a label printer I highly recommend this one. It is easy to set up and easy to use. Took maybe 10 minutes to unpack, install and start printing labels. Instructions are not very detailed. Manual cutter is easy to use, though it took me a little while to figure out that it is operated by a slider at the lower front of the machine. Also, the end of the label should line up with the back...
Strengths: flexible, fast, easy, simple
Weakness: none
for the price, one can't beat this printer. it works wonderfully. i really love it. does everything i want it to do. easy to use.I have seen cheaper and more advanced models (but without keyboard) since ordering this one.
Strengths: Fast printing, easy to set up and use, price, software is well integrated with outlook and word, compact size, interchangability of label cartridges.
Weakness: Software is a little too difficult to use and expense of labels.
Overall an excellent label printer if you have a use for one. It loads label cartridges easily and prints out labels very quickly. Unless you use outlook or word, the label software is a little hard to use at first. After you get the hang of it, you'll see that it is very versatile (i.e easy to load clip art for banners and tags/badges). If you need to print out a lot of labels (ie. over 400 at...
Strengths: Inexpensive, fast printing, easy to use, time-saver
Weakness: You have to use relatively expensive proprietary labels, but otherwise there are no major cons
I own a business where we ship out customer orders everyday. We have to print shipping labels for each order. I tried to save money by using laser printer sheets, but it started taking too much time to set it up each time. I knew there were faster ways of printing labels, but I felt I couldn't justify the cost of a label printer and its proprietary labels.
Strengths: Prints quickly and well. Label stock is easy to change without wasting any labels. Included software works well.
Weakness: None found so far.
I purchased this terrific printer to replace 2 Dymo printers that stopped working. Unlike those, the label stock is easy to swap out and no labels are wasted. This printer prints much faster than the Dymos (though I did not have the turbo version), handles more varied label stock and at $79 with a $20 rebate (Office Depot) it's a steal. Works great. I am very satisfied.
Strengths: Great item, clean, crisp graphics and ease of use.
Weakness: Paper can be a bit costly.
I love this labelmaker! I use it for my eBay items all the time! Replacement paper can be a bit of a drag though I believe the labelmaker offsets the cost with it's ease of use. Definitely would recommend it.
Strengths: Easy to set-up and use Great quality and speed very flexible
Weakness: Umm, not for Macintosh users it doesn't.
I have been using this label maker for a few months and I just love it. It makes printing internet postage a snap. I use it all the time.
Strengths: love this printer
Weakness: economy
for the price, one can't beat this printer. it works wonderfully. i really love it. does everything i want it to do. easy to use. software that accompanies it is user friendly. we use a lot of these at work.
Strengths: very fast in printing. labels vary in size.
Weakness: labels cost money. no special colors.
i've had this for a month and even though i don't use it all the time, it still is worthwhile to use. i mainly use it to label storage boxes and letters. i don't use it often but it serves its purpose for me. good product for the price.

Haven't been as pleased as others
Strengths: Prints labels quickly and reliably
Weakness: Bad drivers for Outlooks, bad tech support, Rebate SCAM!
This prints labels just fine, however the software is proprietary and requires you to keep a separate address book just for labels if you want to use it properly. The program that supposedly works with Outlook is clunky and not particularly configurable. For instance, you cannot change what info the Outlook software puts on each label, unless you edit each label indivdualy. Tech support STINKS!...
